USD/CAD : Short @ 0.9944

  • Weekly : Downtrend from 1.0444 to 0.9631, has achieved 50% retracement at 1.0037. Expect downtrend continuation, perhaps already underway.
  • Daily : Some indication that the upmove might be over, given that we are trying to break a minor uptrend line. If we can now go to trade and hold below 0.9900 that would be a good sign and I will increase trade size.

Marvin, the Paranoid Android and "maniacally depressed robot", the epitome of A.I. and probably my favourite character from Douglas Adams:

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Marvin_the_Paranoid_Android

"Marvin, the Paranoid Android, is a fictional character in The Hitchhiker's Guide to the Galaxy series by Douglas Adams. Marvin is the ship's robot aboard the starship Heart of Gold. Originally built as a failed prototype of Sirius Cybernetics Corporation's GPP (Genuine People Personalities) technology, Marvin is afflicted with severe depression and boredom, in part because he has a "brain the size of a planet" which he is seldom, if ever, given the chance to use. Indeed, the true horror of Marvin's existence is that no task he could be given would occupy even the tiniest fraction of his vast intellect. Marvin claims he is 50,000 times more intelligent than a human, (or 30 billion times more intelligent than a live mattress) though this is, if anything, a vast underestimation."

A Marvin quote:

"Simple. I got very bored and depressed, so I went and plugged myself in to its external computer feed. I talked to the computer at great length and explained my view of the Universe to it," said Marvin.
"And what happened?" pressed Ford.
"It committed suicide," said Marvin and stalked off back to the Heart of Gold.

Heh, sorry for the irreverent off-tangent, TS, but I couldn't resist.

Actually, have a serious question for you regarding the iPad though. Do you execute trades on your iPad while in a mobile location?

Don

[Darn. I can't seem to get past the Comment security verification to prove that I am not a robot...]

No I do not execute trades on my iPad / Saxotrader App.

Not because it doesn't work well, but because all my entry and exit orders are pre-keyed in GTC on my home computer. When I am on the move, I only need to call up any Apps for market price info, or Saxotrader App for orders fills.

I think so far I have only ever executed a trade via iPad once. No problem doing it at all that one time though.

Yep, I have the same s.o.p. setup as well; mobile devices strictly used for market info only. If a trade is large enough or short-term enough to warrant cold-sweating about it, I would be at my desk in front of the screens for it anyway.

But recently, I have been seduced by the tantalizing idea, of trading at Gardens by the Bay. I really enjoyed the cool temperatures, the temperate greenery, and especially the mist thrown up by the indoor waterfall. While enjoying all that and having a cuppa at one of the cafes, was thinking how great it would be if I could be monitoring the European markets opening action during our local afternoon hours, while sitting in a cool-moist conservatory.

Just an idle indulgent thought...
:)

[And if things work out according to plan, I could even be cycling to the Gardens...]

Was wondering why the App was named Marvin, never having read the HGG. Now I know. Thanks.

Working from the Gardens by the Bay sounds like a jolly good idea, especially with the 25 degrees these few weeks.

Don, you could achieve your dream of trading in that temperate paradise with a Macbook Air. Will run the full app + everything else just like a standard mac in a size and weight barely bigger than an ipad.
I love the thought of such a life, hope to make it happen someday soon!
