Well done, Feng Tian Wei. You have just converted a non table tennis person into your fan. What a gutsy performance against the world number 1.
We are proud of you! 明天再加油! Win the bronze. 你一定行的!

Wang YueGu is a sore loser and a major embarrassment to the country.
Love it that we're on the scoreboard!
Ahem...and note that our much larger abang/adik neighbour has yet to register a medal...
(But of course when Datuk Lee Chong Wei plays Chen Long next in the semis, I'll be going: MALAYSIA BOLEH!)
I too, love our cool and intense Feng Tianwei, the lovely ice-queen Li Jiawei, bouncy and bubbly Wang Yuegu, and also our faithful reserves, the cute Sun Beibei and statuesque Yu Mengyu.
And no matter how Wang Yuegu shoots off her mouth, both in the past and now, I forgive her; her fighting spirit and tenacity (probably the toughest on the team), the (usually) exemplary sportsmanship she displays for her opponents teammates and judges, her infectious almost childlike enthusiasm and appreciation for the fans and general audience, her simple self-deprecating manner during matches...
I actually think overall, she's the best influence for the development of Spore table-tennis. Only hope that the next generation of Sporean (and local-born!) paddlers can have the benefit of her and the current team's influence and experience.

Anyway, about that Feng-Ding semi-final match: Ding Ning was as usual, her fearsome predatory self during the first two games. I honestly think that Ding Ning must had been a Pterodactyl in a previous life. Whenever Feng returned to her on the flanks and give her space to extend, she stretches out her wings, I mean arms, and uses her fearsome length and wingspan to generate such incredible speed and power to pound back winners. It was awesome to watch and the result also frustratingly inevitable. But Feng really tried hard in the following games to avoid hitting the flanks and allowing Ding to setup, pushing instead down the center and straight at the body of Ding. And you can see how this jammed Ding up, her pterodactyl-arms-wings are too long to fold back to return effectively, and she couldnt move her body out of the way enough; Feng managed to get two games next. But then when Feng tried matching Ding again in the powershots...
Still a great performance by Feng against the best women's player on the planet in the current era, who is blessed with a bloodline reaching back to the highest skies and reaches of the Jurassic era.
That she is not born in Singapore does not in any way diminish for me the pleasure and pride of seeing the Singapore colors among the medal standings. Too bad the majority of Singaporeans do not feel the same.
