- Homer's Iliad re-told through the eyes of Achilles' best friend, Patroclus. (I did not think that Achilles and Patroclus were gay lovers in the original Illiad though).
- Very well written first novel. Definitely worth reading even if you are very familiar with the story already.
- Reading this was a real pleasure. And so much easier than the original Homer!
- Lack of graphic gay sex locked in my 5-star rating for the book. Otherwise I would not have have rated it so highly. Love between Achilles and Patroclus is described beautifully.
- Will definitely try to read her next book, although it might be a long wait. It's taken her 10 years to finish this.
